Team Canada Makes Selections
The Canada Wolverines have named their 17-man team to face the USA Tomahawks in the opening game of the 2012 Colonial Cup series in Toronto.
The Wolverines are looking to continue their form from their last outing against the World Cup bound Tomahawks after defeating them 18-16 in the second leg of the Colonial Cup last year.
However, the Tomahawks are the Colonial Cup holders after a greater points differential from their first leg 18-2 win and will be confident about repeating the feat after strong performances against highly ranked Ireland and Tonga this year.
The Wolverines side remains mainly unchanged after their impressive performance against the Lebanon Cedars last month. The only changes were enforced due to injuries to Ottawa Rhinos trio of Justin Redguard, Stu McReynolds, and Graham Stevens.
Replacing them are Jared Curry, who returns after making his debut against Jamaica, and Louis Robinson, who makes his 2012 return after playing three internationals for Canada in 2011.
“After a strong performance against Lebanon the team pretty much selected itself,” said Canada’s new head coach Clayton Beckett.
“It’s a shame for the lads with injuries, but we are excited to have Jared and Louis back in the team as we know they will be up for the occasion.”
The Canada Wolverines come into this game ranked 21st in the world and the USA Tomahawks are ranked #12.
The game is set to start at 7p EST at Lamport Stadium, Toronto.
