South Prevail

The South has defeated the North 38-30 in the AMNRL’s 2012 All Star Match.

USA Tomahawks selectors may have some selection headaches ahead of them after the match produced a number of standout performances.

The South got off to scintillating start with Ryan Sadano staking his claim for representative honors with a three try haul before the halftime break. Their momentum continued early into the second half when Corey Mayo crossed over extending the lead 20-6.

A fight back from the North seemed ominous and with two tries in succession to Charlie Rizzo and Steve Johnson, the deficit was reduced to two.

That would be as close as the North would get in a highly entertaining and physical encounter that saw both teams go try for try in the final stanza.

Zac Padgett and Steve Thompson were also among the scorers for the South, Gareth Gibbs proved his worth with a double, while Robert Ploth and Darren Lewis also crossed the try line.

Ryan Sadano’s three try performance was enough to see him named MVP for the South while Adam Wendland picked up the award for the North.

The AMNRL heads into its final round of the Atlantic Conference with the annual War at The Shore event taking place Saturday July 28th in Sea Isle City, New Jersey.
